How to Use PayPal Fee Calculator (UK & US) + Reverse Invoice Calculator
- Enter your transaction or invoice amount (pre-set to PayPal UK Commercial 2.9% + 30p, or switch to PayPal US 3.49% + 49¢).
- Read the left card to see your net payout and the exact PayPal fee deducted.
- Read the right card to see what to charge on your invoice so you net 100% of your target after PayPal fees.
- Compare PayPal side-by-side against Stripe and Square in the table below.
PayPal Friends & Family transfers are free for domestic personal gifts, but any payment marked 'For Goods and Services' or paid via PayPal Checkout / PayPal Invoicing incurs a merchant percentage plus a fixed per-transaction fee (2.9% + 30p in the UK, or 3.49% + 49¢ in the US). If you simply add 2.9% to your invoice, you still end up slightly short because PayPal charges its 2.9% on the new higher total too. WeShoal uses the exact reverse-gross-up formula — (Target + Fixed Fee) ÷ (1 − Rate) — so your net payout matches your target down to the penny.
