Bank Statement PDF to CSV & Excel
Turn PDF bank statements into a clean CSV or Excel spreadsheet. Read on your device, never uploaded.

๐ Your statement never leaves this device โ the PDF is read by your browser, nothing is uploaded.
How to Use Bank Statement PDF to CSV & Excel
- Drop one or more PDF bank statements onto the page (or try the sample statement). Password-protected files ask for their password.
- Check the preview table: dates, descriptions, money out, money in and balance are detected automatically, and you can click any cell to fix it.
- Pick a date format and columns, then download a CSV or Excel file, or copy the rows straight into Google Sheets or Excel.
Convert PDF bank statements to a spreadsheet without uploading them
Bank statements contain your account number, your salary, your rent and every shop you visit. Most online converters work by uploading that PDF to a server. This one doesn't: the PDF is opened by PDF.js inside your browser, the transactions are worked out by code running on your device, and the CSV or Excel file is created locally. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it still works.
What it does
- Reads the text of each page and rebuilds the statement's lines from the position of every word.
- Finds transaction lines that start with a date, in formats such as 01/02/2024, 01-02-24, 01.02.2024, 2024-02-01, 1 Feb 2024, 01 Feb and Feb 1, 2024.
- Fills in the year when the statement only prints day and month, handling December to January roll-overs.
- Joins multi-line descriptions, and keeps transactions that share a date printed only once per day.
- Recognises amounts written as 1,234.56, -12.00, (12.00), 12.00-, 12.00 CR, 12.00 DR and ยฃ12.00.
- Works out which column is money out, money in and balance from the headings (Paid out, Debit, Money in, Credit, Balanceโฆ) or, if there are none, from column positions checked against the running balance.
- Skips "balance brought forward", "carried forward" and total lines.
- Combines several statements (for example twelve monthly PDFs) into one table.
Output columns
| Column | Contents |
|---|---|
| Date | ISO (2025-03-31), UK (31/03/2025) or US (03/31/2025) |
| Description | The payee or reference text, with continuation lines joined |
| Money out / Money in | Positive numbers in separate columns |
| Balance | The running balance printed on the statement (optional) |
| Amount | Money in minus money out, as one signed number |
Tick Single signed Amount column for the Date, Description, Amount shape that many accounting tools, including Xero and QuickBooks, accept for bank imports. You may still need to map the columns in their import screen.
CSV, Excel or clipboard
The CSV is saved as UTF-8 with a byte order mark so Excel shows ยฃ correctly. The Excel download is a real .xlsx file with proper date cells and a filter row. Copy for Sheets puts tab-separated rows on your clipboard.
Always check the result
Every bank lays out statements differently, so automatic detection can miss or misread a line. Compare the transaction count and the money in/out totals above the table with your statement. You can edit any cell, add a missing row or delete a wrong one before downloading.
Limits
- Scanned or photographed statements have no text layer and can't be read (no OCR). Download the PDF from your online banking instead.
- Amounts need two decimals with a dot. European formats like 1.234,56 aren't recognised yet.
- Very unusual layouts, such as statements where the date isn't at the start of the line, may not be detected.
