Compress Video: Make It Small Enough to Send
Shrink videos to fit Discord (10 MB), WhatsApp (16 MB) or email. Free, no watermark, no upload.
In plain words: Choose where you're sending the video and it's shrunk to fit that size, right on your device. Smaller targets mean lower picture quality, especially for long videos, so trim first if you can.
Your browser can't encode video here. Please use the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer or phone.

How to Use Compress Video: Make It Small Enough to Send
- Drop your video (MP4, MOV, WebM and more). It stays on your device.
- Pick a size: 10 MB for Discord, 16 MB for WhatsApp, 24 MB for email, or type your own.
- Press Compress. The tool works out the right quality and resolution, then you download the MP4.
Make a video small enough to send, without uploading it
"File too large" is the most annoying message on the internet. Discord's free limit is 10 MB, WhatsApp plays videos inline under about 16 MB, and Gmail attachments stop at 25 MB. Most online compressors make you upload your video first, then add a watermark or a daily limit. WeShoal compresses the video inside your browser using your device's built-in video encoder (WebCodecs), so it's private and there are no limits.
How it hits the target size
Size equals bitrate times length. The tool divides your target size by the video's duration to get the bitrate it can afford, keeps a small safety margin, and picks a sensible resolution: 1080p when there's room, stepping down to 720p, 480p or 360p for long videos. If the first pass comes out slightly over, it automatically does a second, slightly smaller pass.
Tips for the best quality
- Shorter is sharper: a 30-second clip at 10 MB looks great, while a 10-minute video at 10 MB will be blurry. Trim first if you can.
- Remove sound if you don't need it. That frees up space for the picture.
- The output is a standard H.264 MP4 that plays everywhere: phones, Discord, WhatsApp, PowerPoint.
Speed depends on your device. Most phones and laptops have hardware video encoding, so a short clip takes seconds.
